The terms we use, defined.
Ten short definitions, written the way we use the words across this site. Each one is a sentence or two, nothing more.

AI co-clinician
An AI co-clinician works alongside a care team: it reaches patients, gathers information and prepares options, while a clinician makes every decision. Gia by Scienza is an AI co-clinician for teams serving older adults, reaching them by phone or video between visits.
Voice AI check-in
A Voice AI check-in is a short conversation by phone or video in which Gia asks how a person is doing, listens, and records what she hears for the care team. Nothing is required of the person beyond answering a call.
Speech biomarkers
Speech biomarkers are measurable features of natural speech, such as pace, pauses, articulation and prosody, that peer-reviewed research has associated with cognitive, neurological and mood conditions. Gia measures them during a check-in and reports them to a clinician for review.
Clinical decision support
Clinical decision support gives a clinician information and options to consider; it does not make the decision. Every result from Gia reaches a clinician as decision support, and none of it is a diagnosis.
Proactive Decision Actions
Proactive Decision Actions are the two or three next steps shown on a Gia card for a clinician to choose from, each traceable to a reason drawn from that person's own chart and calls. No option becomes an action until a clinician selects it.
Foundation model for aging
Scienza's foundation model for aging is a sequence model trained on longitudinal senior-care records that estimates a person's risk of falls, hospital return, dementia, stroke, Parkinson's disease and cognitive decline. Health plans and health systems run it as Gia Health Analytics, hosted by Scienza.
Pre-registered validation
A pre-registered validation records the outcomes, thresholds and analysis plan before the evaluation is run; any later deviation must be disclosed. Scienza reports each pre-registered claim as met, not met or indeterminate.
Sealed test set
A sealed test set is a partition of data held apart from training and tuning until the planned evaluation. Scienza's foundation model for aging was evaluated on a sealed test set under its pre-registered plan.
Predictive medicine for aging populations
Predictive medicine for aging populations means acting on an older adult's risk before the fall, the readmission or the diagnosis. Scienza builds its products around this approach, with a clinician reviewing every result.
Digital Human®
A Digital Human® is a lifelike on-screen presence with a voice; Gia appears as one on video check-ins.
Gia is clinical decision support for clinicians, not a diagnosis. Read more on Gia, Proactive Decision Actions, the model and AI transparency.
